Tourist cycling and the "BREVET ÉDUCATION ROUTIÈRE" to promote road securiy and awareness for children.
The Allier départemental Cyclo-Tourism Committee wishes to develop the three fundamentals, these are :
Security whilst riding a bike
le Sport Santé dans la lutte contre l’obésité ou les maladies cardio-vasculaires
Sport as a health weapon to counter obesity or cardio-vascular illness.
Sustainable development via the discovery of regions by an environment-friendly activity.
Upholding these values, the Organising Committee of the International Cyclo-tourism Semaine Fédérale has instigated a bold action aimed at young people within the framework of the 76th International Cyclo-Tourism Semaine Fédérale to be held at Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule from the 3rd to the 10th of August 2014.
As such, from February 2013, André CHAMPION, National Technical Advisor for the Fédération Française de Cyclotourisme (FFCT), has conducted a training programme for personnel in the département in respect to (the training of children) "Brevets d’Education Routière".
Using teaching kits provided donated by Gaz Réseau Distribution France, the official partner of the FFCT, André has identified the types of activities that can be conducted, with the assistance of State Education teachers in schools in the ensuing months. Children will be able to test their knowledge of the Highway Code and demonstrate their mastery of bike handling via a series of technical forums.
In June 2013, after several meetings with the State’s Education Representatives in the Allier département, the départemental committee of Cyclo-Tourism has been approved to train children with the assistance of their primary school teachers.
It should be noted that as a result of previous International Cyclo-tourism weeks, a growing number of children have been awarded the Brevet d’Education Routière diploma. The Allier département must uphold this challenge so as to encourage young people in the département to actively participate in the 2014 event and to become informed bike riders.
